Lancaster may be at the heart of the Amish farming community, but that doesn’t mean that there is too far to travel to get to the nearest ski slopes in Central and Eastern Pennsylvania.
Lancaster boasts four different ski resorts within a 70-mile radius, making it a prime location as a base for a winter break in the area.
Roundtop Mountain Resort
Roundtop is the closest skiing destination to Lancaster. It is a relatively small ski area just to the south of Harrisburg, with a total of five chairlifts, a tow and three magic carpets.
There are 21 runs on a vertical of 600 feet, with the most challenging being off to the left on one triple and one quadruple chairlift.

Bear Creek Mountain Resort
Bear Creek Mountain Resort is the next closest resort to Lancaster and is situated to the south-west of Allentown in the Lehigh valley area. The ski area dates back to the Sixties and currently offers four chairlifts and two drag lifts.
The resort offers 23 runs on just under 40 acres of terrain.

Spring Mountain Adventures
Spring Mountain is the closest ski area to Philadelphia and is located just off the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The ski resort offers four chairlifts and a magic carpet on a vertical of just over 400 feet.
There are eight trails, including a double black diamond run and the ski resort also has a terrain park.

Liberty Mountain Resort
Liberty Mountain ski resort is located to the west of Lancaster close to the Maryland border and around 10 miles from the historic town of Gettysburg. Liberty Mountain has five quad chairlifts, a drag lift and two magic carpets. The terrain covers around 100 acres on a vertical of 620 feet, with 16 trails of all standards.
