Planned new ski lifts on Vail Mountain

Vail mountain is the USA’s third largest ski resort and it attracts about 1.6 million skiers every year from all over the world. Owners Vail Resorts have constructed about 10 lifts in the last 11 years and new improvements are in the pipeline.

The upper Golden Peak project is already approved for construction and will provide three new trails with a lengthy T-Bar that cuts across the River Bahn angle section with a capacity of about 1,400 skiers per hour.

Game Creek Express lies on the other side of Vail mountain. The 1985 detachable quad there right now is planned to be replaced by a six person detachable.

There are potential access changes from west of Lionshead Village with a planned new gondola rising from the valley and taking the route of the Pride Express.

Key Takeaways:

  • The upper Golden Peak project is already approved for construction and will provide three new trails with a T-bar near the River Bahn angle station.
  • On the other side of the Vail front side, the 1985 vintage Game Creek Express will be replaced with a six-person detachable chair.
  • Major plans for the back bowls include two high speed quad chairs: a new Sun Down Express lift into Sun Down Bowl and a new Mongolia Express chair to replace the current draglift.

“Owner Vail Resorts has constructed a staggering ten new lifts in the last eleven years at its flagship, including a new 10 passenger gondola and three six place chairlifts.”
