A heavy dump of early November snow has resulted in many of the Lake Tahoe ski resorts announcing opening dates in this month, with some already open at the time of writing.
Ski area opening dates
Boreal Mountain Resort was the first Tahoe ski area to open on Veterans’ Day 11 November this year and has stayed open through the week.
Mt Rose also opened on 11 November but has since closed the skiing for work on the Lakeview Express chairlift.
Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood ski resorts all opened a day later on 12 November.
Other opening dates
After more than three feet of snow, Palisades Tahoe is scheduled to open the Gold Coast area on 18 November with the Alpine area planned to open 22 November if snow conditions permit.
Sugar Bowl resort near the Donner Pass plans its opening day on 25 November.
Moving into December Sierra at Tahoe ski area has its opening scheduled for 03 December, while Diamond Peak on 08 December and Homewood Mountain Resort on 09 December round off the list of Lake Tahoe ski resort openings for this year.
